KF96 dimethyl silicone oil possesses a variety of excellent properties, resulting in its widespread application across various sectors of industrial and agricultural production, the defense industry, scientific research, and healthcare. It is widely used for electrical insulation, mold release, defoaming, damping, vibration control, rolling, dust prevention, waterproofing, and high and low humidity control.
1. Applications in the Electromechanical Industry: Dimethyl silicone oil is widely used in motors, electrical appliances, and electronic instruments as an insulating medium that provides heat resistance, arc corona resistance, corrosion resistance, moisture resistance, and dust resistance. It is also currently used as an impregnating agent for transformers, capacitors, and television scanning transformers. It is also used as a liquid shockproof and damping material in various precision machinery, instruments, and meters. Dimethyl silicone oil's shock absorption properties are minimally affected by temperature, making it commonly used in instruments exposed to strong mechanical vibration and large temperature fluctuations, such as those in aircraft and automobiles. It is used for vibration control, damping, and instrument reading stabilization. It can also serve as a liquid spring and is used in aircraft landing gear.
2. As a Defoamer: Due to its low surface tension and excellent chemical stability in water, animal and vegetable oils, and high-boiling-point mineral oils, dimethyl silicone oil is widely used as a defoamer in the petroleum, chemical, medical, food processing, textile, printing and dyeing, and papermaking industries. Even a 10-100 ppm silicone oil addition provides excellent defoaming performance.
3. As a Release Agent: Due to its non-stick properties to rubber, plastic, and metal, dimethyl silicone oil is also used as a release agent for various rubber and plastic product molding processes and in precision casting. Using it as a release agent not only facilitates demolding but also leaves the product surface clean, smooth, and with a clear texture.
4. As an Insulating, Dustproof, and Mildew-Resistant Coating: Dip-coating a layer of dimethyl silicone oil on glass or ceramic surfaces and heat-treating at 250-300°C forms a semi-permanent waterproof, mildew-resistant, and insulating film. Using it to treat insulating components improves their insulation performance; using it to treat optical instruments prevents mold on lenses and prisms; using it to treat medicine bottles prolongs the shelf life of medications and prevents them from sticking to the wall; and using it to treat the surface of motion picture film provides lubrication, reducing friction and extending the running time of films.
5. As a lubricant: Dimethyl silicone oil is suitable for lubricating rubber and plastic bearings and gears. It can also be used as a lubricant for rolling friction between steel and steel at high temperatures, or for friction between steel and other metals. However, since its lubricating properties are not particularly good at room temperature, it is generally not used as a lubricant between metals at room temperature.
6. As an additive: Dimethyl silicone oil can be used as an additive in many materials, such as a gloss enhancer for paint. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to paint can prevent blistering and wrinkling, enhancing the gloss of the paint film. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to ink can improve printing quality. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to polishes (such as automotive polish) can increase gloss, protect the paint film, and provide excellent water resistance.
7. Applications in healthcare: Dimethyl silicone oil is non-toxic to the human body and is not decomposed by body fluids, making it widely used in healthcare. Its defoaming properties have led to the development of oral gastrointestinal tablets and defoaming aerosols for pulmonary edema. Adding silicone oil to ointments can improve skin penetration and enhance drug efficacy. Certain silicone-based ointments are effective for dermatitis, bedsores, and other conditions. Silicone oil's anticoagulant properties can be used to treat the surface of blood reservoirs, extending the storage time of blood samples.
8. Other applications: Dimethyl silicone oil has many other applications. For example, its high flash point, odorlessness, colorlessness, transparency, and human-friendly properties make it a heat carrier in oil baths or thermostats in the steel, glass, and ceramic industries, as well as in scientific research. Its excellent shear resistance makes it suitable for hydraulic fluids, particularly aviation hydraulic fluids. Using it to treat rayon spinning heads can remove static electricity and improve yarn quality. Adding silicone oil to cosmetics can enhance skin moisturizing and protection, among other benefits.
